The Roman general and dictator Gaius Jūlius Caesar wrote grammatical work named 'Dē analogiā' which is unfortunately lost. Only few fragments survived. From the few fragments we get some interesting recommendations by Caesar:
- harēna should only be used in the singular.
- quadrīgae should only be used in the plural.
- The variant Calypsōnem is to be used for the declension of the Latinized Greek name Calypsō.
- turbonem is to be preferred over turbinem.
