If one were to use political science terms to describe the internal structure of the Acadēmīa, one would conclude that the Acadēmīa has a mixed constitution. Acadēmīa's institutions contain elements of grassroots democracy, technocracy, oligarchy, plutocracy, and even dictatorship.

Democratic elements

Acadēmīa has large grassroots components to involve everyone as much as possible. On each entry page, people are free to discuss the entry itself. The main discussion platform for fundamental questions is the forum. First of all, we want to decide all questions by consensus. That means: all questions should be decided by common agreement. As long as no one disagrees, a matter is accepted.

This has the advantage that we thereby hope for the greatest possible agreement on the guidelines and rules of the Acadēmīa and thus a quorum is not necessary. So we don't have to bring any inactive users out of the woodwork and force them to the ballot box.

But if a vote is necessary, there is the Comitium, where fundamental questions are clarified. In the individual forum sections the exact voting procedures are shown.

From a purely theoretical point of view, it is also possible to change the entire internal structure of the Acadēmīa in this way.

Technicratic, oligarchic and plutocratic elements

Technical questions, moderation and admission of new members are used by the administrators. The current administrators can be viewed in the Special:User list.

Only those who have made a special contribution to Acadēmīa and enjoy a high level of trust can become administrators. This is because the powers are considerable: an administrator can delete pages, move them; block users; have pages protected from editing by other users. Likewise, new users are accepted with the agreement of the administrators.

However, with the rights also come certain responsibilities. An administrator must contribute to the server costs, be online regularly and monitor what is happening, as well as be a contact person for all the new users.

You can become an administrator, if you

• Have been registered for at least one month,
• have made at least ten edits that have not been reset
• are ready to contribute to the server costs.

Dictatorial elements

Finally, there are the dictatorial elements: Our Jācōbus is the dictator perpetuus, because legally he is the owner of the website and is accordingly liable for everything that is written here. Therefore, in case of doubt, he must reserve the right to revert all Acadēmīa decisions and edits. Thus, he has an absolute right of veto.
