Declension
Lua error in Module:la-nominal at line 2007: Unrecognized declension '2n'.
Etymology:
Probably derived from a Polabian stem *berl- ~ *birl- (“swamp”), for which lexical item there is no evidence in Polabian nor in any Slavic language. Closest to that would be an unknown simple of *bьrlogъ (“cave”). The suffixes *-inъ and *-ogъ have the same meaning, so Berlin can be translated as "den, cave, lair".
